Anyhow, this is a really nice model. A little bit rough in the details, but with some added brass details such as fuel and oil lines it makes a nice addition to the collection.
Scale modeling is the ultimate hobby if you like big machines but don't have the place for them at home!
Volvo 12 liter diesel engine
This is a plastic model kit from Pocher. The scale is 1/8 so it is quite big. The text on the box tells that it is a 16 liter engine, but that is wrong! It is in fact a 12 liter engine. I went to the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg to take some pictures of the prototype and it was not difficult to see that this model does not at all correspond with the real 16 liter engine. When I showed the model box to one of the design engineers at Volvo Powertrain, he directly confirmed that it's a 12 liter engine and not the 16 liter ditto. Pocher has made 1/8 replicas of both F12 and F16 and I think they didn't bother to change the engine when the F16 was released.
Anyhow, this is a really nice model. A little bit rough in the details, but with some added brass details such as fuel and oil lines it makes a nice addition to the collection.
